These beautiful earrings are handmade by artisans in South America, and are crafted from Tagua nut - the palm nut that flowers in amazing patterns. Because of their lightweight nature, they will bring a little colour to your day without weighing you down.

With our tagua nut Loop Earrings, you get the lightweight feel and beautiful, vibrant colours of ethical tagua nut paired with a beautifully simple, minimalistic design. These earrings have been hand-made with delicately looped slices of tagua nut for a sustainable alternative to ivory.

The tagua nut can be found on a palm tree in the rainforests of South America. It is sometimes called 'vegetable ivory' as it has been used for hundreds of years as an ivory substitute for buttons, jewellery and figurines due to its dense properties. Tagua nuts are harvested from the pods of the tree and then dried for several months. They must be sanded or cut into shape, which is often done by local artisans who are paid fairly for their work. The cultivation of Tagua prevents deforestation and provides work for about 35,000 people.
